Our Little Art Fair

Last weekend was my first art fair. I can see how doing fairs could get addicting. I met so many wonderful art lovers and got to talk about something other than Wisconsin politics. Tho, I must admit that the highlight of my Saturday was when Lori Compas stopped in my booth, what a great surprise. Today is finally the big day for Wisconsinites and I wish her the best.

It was A LOT of work getting ready for the fair, but I was able to keep my setup under $100, thanks to to Craigslist and various local thrift stores. And I must give a big thanks to my mom for coming out to help me on Saturday, and to my husband for helping me on Sunday. Now I hope get back to doing some painting again!

A Golden Ending

A Golden Ending
16" x 20", oil

The great thing about having this field outside my kitchen window is that I can run out with my camera whenever there is a dramatic sunset, sunrise, or cool funky clouds. I must have a hundred photos of this same field in every season!

April Sky - SOLD

April Sky
16" x 20", oil

This is the largest I've ever painted, pretty scary til you get some paint on all that WHITE. It was nice to spread out and not feel the confinement of my usual little 6 x 8s.

Getting Outside

Spring Beckons
8" x 10", oil

Oak & Friends
6" x 8", oil

Bit of a Loner
6" x 8", oil

An early spring gave me a chance for some plein aire work in comfy temps. Mom and I have been out twice, which is a good start for us. Our new portable easels made outdoor painting a pure pleasure (thanks Dad!).

Once again, after months of neglect I find myself relearning what to do with brushes, paint, and my new set of palette knives (thanks Mom!). I forced myself to squeeze in these little paintings between my design work and when the school bus arrives, this gives me usually about an hour and a half, maybe two if I'm lucky.

Housekeeping

Since I use this blog to keep track of what I've done I REALLY need to take care of some business after months of neglect.

Last fall I had a little show at a local coffee house and never got around to adding these to my blog, so for the record...
