September Marsh

September Marsh
6 x 8, oil

Southern Wisconsin has had an endless summer this month, so I finally took advantage of the perfect plein aire weather. I was able to sit on a log right IN the marsh behind our house. It has been so dry that meadow flowers have replaced the reeds and are taking over the drying muck. The colors were beautiful and the best part was NO BUGS! This must be what it's like to live in California : )

  1. You really captured a sense of place in your swamp that's turning into a beautiful meadow. What great colors, nicely done.
